Aswathi Rebecca Asok is a policy-oriented researcher with a strong academic background in economics and law. She serves as a Research Associate at the University of Portsmouth, working with both the Revolution Plastics Institute and the Global Plastics Policy Centre. In these roles, she contributes to interdisciplinary, evidence-based research aimed at shaping policies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Her doctoral research at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance focuses on debt attitudes, debt stress, and financial inclusion in developing regions. One of her notable studies examined how debt attitudes influence debt accumulation among rural poor households in Kerala .She also authored “Inclusivity in welfare-oriented microfinance: lessons from Kudumbashree in Kerala, India,” providing valuable policy insights into the inclusiveness of microfinance systems.

Through her interdisciplinary approach, Aswathi Rebecca Asok has become a distinguished scholar, contributing to the social dimensions of economics and advancing research on sustainable policy development.
