Neil Khor is the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Executive Director of UN-Habitat and Acting Director of the External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division.
He joined UN-Habitat in 2019 as Special Advisor to the Executive Director, where he contributed to the institutional restructuring process and oversaw the 10th session of the World Urban Forum. In 2020, he acted as Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Executive Director, coordinating the agency’s COVID-19 response. Since 2021, he has been serving as Interim Chief of Staff, supervising the Project Review Working Group and the Cities Investment Facility.
Prior to joining the UN, Khor was the Chief Operating Officer of Think City, an urban regeneration agency under Khazanah Nasional in Malaysia. He also worked as a journalist and has extensive experience in heritage and civil society engagement. Neil Khor holds a PhD in English from the University of Cambridge and is the author of about ten books, including Towns of Malaya: A Visual Urban History of the Malay Peninsula.
