Emine Erdoğan Visited the “There Is Enough” Themed Zero Waste Exhibition at the UN Headquarters

Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, visited the “There Is Enough” themed Zero Waste exhibition held at the United Nations Headquarters. The exhibition, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation in collaboration with UN-Habitat and UNEP, was launched as part of the International Zero Waste Day on March 30 and will remain open to visitors until April 11.

Emine Erdoğan was accompanied by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, senior UN representatives, diplomatic mission officials, members of the UN Zero Waste Advisory Board, and fashion designers during her visit.

A Striking Experience on Textile Waste

In line with this year’s theme, “Zero Waste in Fashion and Textiles”, the exhibition demonstrates how existing resources can be used more efficiently without resorting to overconsumption. It conveys the message that the world has sufficient knowledge, solutions, and human capacity to make real change possible.

The most striking work in the exhibition, the “There Is Enough” sculpture, symbolizes textile waste. The installation, which visitors can step inside, features mirrors on its ceiling and floor to illustrate the infinite nature of textile waste. All materials used in the artwork will be donated for recycling after the event.

A Zero Waste Journey Through 9 Experience Zones

The exhibition offers visitors an immersive journey across nine awareness zones:

  • Reality Zone: Presents the seriousness of the environmental crisis through impactful data and visuals.
  • Interactive Experience Zone: Offers an engaging knowledge experience on environmental elements like oceans, air, and soil.
  • Information Zone: Shares eye-opening statistics on the textile industry’s water usage and waste output.
  • Confrontation Zone: Encourages visitors to reflect on the environmental impact of their own consumption habits.
  • “Our Place in the Solution” Zone: Suggests sustainable consumption behaviors.
  • Screen Experience Zone: Highlights the global effects of reuse and repurposing.
  • Recycling Journey: Visually explains the clothing recycling process.
  • Reflection and Commitment Zone: Allows visitors to make personal pledges toward a zero waste lifestyle.
  • Best Practices Zone: Showcases successful projects from around the world.

Using advanced storytelling techniques and interactive elements, the exhibition not only informs visitors but also encourages real steps toward behavioral change.
