Jose Manuel Moller is the Founder and CEOof Algramo, a pioneering social enterprise that provides innovativecontributions to the circular economy. Established in 2012, Algramo—which means“by the gram”—was created to reduce plastic waste and tackle the so-called“poverty tax,” the disproportionate cost low-income communities face forpackaged goods. Through its refill distribution systems, Algramo enablesconsumers to use their own containers, reducing single-use plastics whileexpanding access to affordable essentials across Chile and Latin America.

In addition to his entrepreneurial work,Moller serves as Vice-Chairof the United Nations Advisory Board on Zero Waste, a global body that contributes to shapingsustainability policies and implementation strategies .

Moller’s leadership has earned himinternational recognition. In 2023, he was named a UNEP Champion of the Earth in the “Entrepreneurial Vision” category, theUnited Nations’ highest environmental honor, for his innovative solutions toreduce waste and promote sustainable consumption.
