Lara Beekma Reis is an experienced strategic communicator and global partnerships leader, with a unique background spanning diplomacy, international advocacy, and sustainable development. Currently serving as Head of Business Development at the New European Reuse Alliance (New ERA), Iara leverages communications as a catalyst to drive systemic change, mobilize resources, and forge impactful alliances across sectors and borders.

Prior to her current role, she led Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement at New ERA, playing a pivotal role in shaping the alliance’s voice and visibility within Europe’s circular economy movement. Her work builds on a decade of high-level multilateral engagement, including diplomatic posts at the United Nations and the Embassy of Bolivia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where she served as Technical Advisor to the International Court of Justice, and Alternate Representative to the OPCW and ICC.

At the UN in New York, Iara advised on sustainable development, environmental diplomacy, and economic cooperation, drafting key resolutions and negotiating on behalf of the G77 and China. She was also instrumental in establishing a Trust Fund for the Harmony with Nature initiative through an agreement between the Government of Bolivia and UN-DESA.
