Pål Mårtensson

Oceania Director, World Cleanup Day, International Speaker & Mentor for Let’s Do It World and ZWIA

Pål Mårtensson has over 20 years of experience in waste management and has been actively involved in the Zero Waste movement for the past 15 years. He is the creator of the world's first ECO-Park – Kretsloppsparken Alelyckan – which he founded and which has since served as a model for both public and private sectors worldwide.

Pål is a member of the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA) and the Let’s Do It! Movement, and he currently serves as a mentor and the Regional Director for Oceania for World Cleanup Day.

With a long-standing, internationally respected background in waste management, Pål is one of the masterminds behind the project "Zmart Zero Waste Living," which aims to educate people on waste and how to reduce it to zero. He has also been involved in the project "Living the Life," which promotes the adoption of a new lifestyle by helping people change their consumption, reuse, and recycling habits.

In addition, Pål has worked on the project "Waste Prevention with ECO-Parks" in collaboration with the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL).

He has attended more than 100 international environmental events, sharing his technical knowledge and practical experience on topics such as the Zero Waste concept, strategies and implementation, the role of ECO-Parks in waste management, extended producer responsibility (EPR), take-back policies, waste analysis and reduction strategies, and community education programs.

Pål has been a Global Ambassador for Let’s Do It World for over five years. In 2019, he mapped trash in 19 different countries, earning him the nickname "The World Mapper." He has participated in cleanups in over 30 countries, consistently sharing his expertise, skills, and strong belief in Zero Waste strategies to inspire and educate communities worldwide.
